Pfizer Canada Inc. is the Canadian arm of New York-based Pfizer Inc, one of the world's leading pharmaceutical company. Our mission: to discover, develop, and provide innovative medicines that help enhance the health of Canadians and people around the world.

While Pfizer Canada was established in 1953, Pfizer Inc started more than 100 years before that, in 1849. Emigrating to Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1848, cousins Charles Pfizer and Charles Erhart, established Pfizer as a manufacturer of fine chemicals.

It was during the Second World War that Pfizer began to produce medicines. Using a fermentation expertise, we became the first company to mass-produce the "miracle drug" penicillin.

After the war, we continued to research antibiotics with the development of Terramycin in the early 50s. From there, we developed many more innovative medicines in a number of therapeutic areas.

At Pfizer Canada, we are constantly looking for new and innovative pharmaceutical and animal health medicines to help improve the well being of all Canadians. We're proud to have some of the best minds and resources in the country working toward that goal.

At the same time, we believe that taking a healthy path in one's life doesn't start just with taking medication. There are many other ways to prepare for the journey… and enjoy it all the more. After all, to be truly healthy, it takes more than medication.
